It happens

If you have a tutorial class with 24 nearly-all-male 20-year-old students sometimes it happens. Especially if it's them who have to speak and present a topic in small groups to the rest of the class. Then the rest of the class is paying particular attention to pick up any 'faux pas', slipperies, or other imperfections done by their pals. So they don't let go any opportunity to giggle or laugh out loudly at the expense of the hapless one who happens to be the temporary compère.

But today I had to smile as well. I couldn't pretend not to see it. One of the guys out there presenting a topic on the import-substitution strategy of industrialisation innocently put up a slide titled 'Erection of a tariff' with graphs. Immediate was the reaction from the male audience. I had to concede them the justified maliciousness. Had only the courage to tell them off with a 'NAUGTHY...' which resulted in them bursting out laughing even more, having understood that their perverse sense of interpretation was common with the teacher...
